Suppose you landed your dream job as a business analyst for National Products Incorporated, and your role in the company involves conducting research and analysis on key issues to provide context for decision-makers and recommend possible solutions.
Your supervisor, head of the project management department, has asked you to get started on researching a list of four crucial problems: corporate social responsibility, diversity in hiring, organizational culture, and social media use by employees, and you can research the topics in any order. You will write a report presenting the data from your research, your conclusions, and your recommendations.
You will select one of the following four topics to research:
Corporate Social Responsibility
Diversity in Hiring
Social Media Use by Employees
State which of the four topics you have chosen, and in one paragraph, explain the following:
your narrowed topic focus
why it is a significant issue
the problem you intend to research and provide recommendations to solve
Identify three expert sources you will use for your research report. List the specific references using the 7th edition of APA format. Wikipedia and dictionaries are not acceptable academic sources for this report. If you need help with APA format
Based on the research you conducted and your selected sources, describe the two quantifiable sets of data you will incorporate graphically into your report
List the type of graph you’ll use for each set of data. Do not create the graphs now; just state what you will show graphically.
Consider these points to help you define your topic, narrow your focus, and conduct your research:
Will you examine the effect of your topic on individuals or on organizations? (For example, if you were researching telecommuting and collaboration, you could examine the effects on employees, companies, or customers; for artificial intelligence and job automation, how this affects the employee, job market, the company’s competitiveness, etc.)
What are the economic, health, and social effects of the topic? Do you want to focus on just one of these areas? (For example, you could discuss the mental health effects of employees’ use of social media in the workplace.)
Is there a different angle of problem altogether you wish to explore related to your topic? Be specific.
Who is affected by this topic?
How long has this been an issue? Is some action required? By whom? How urgent is the situation?
Use the instructions below to create the required graphs for your report. Paste your graphs into a Word document.
Write a paragraph for each graph explaining what it depicts and why that style of graph is effective for your chosen data. A full essay is not required; however, be sure to cite your data sources using an in-text citation and reference in APA formatting.
Upload a single Word document for your assignment.
Using Excel, prepare one graph for each of the two data sets you identified
Incorporate any feedback on your graph types and data sets, and make any necessary corrections to your APA reference format.
Remember that you must create two different graph types (e.g., pie chart and line graph).
Title each graph and clearly label each axis. Note: You may not copy and paste your graphs from online sources. You must create original graphs using your researched data.
Be sure that all of your graph components, including axis labels, are readable and of an appropriate size.
Paste your completed graphs into your Word document.
Below each graph, write a paragraph that explains what the graph depicts and why that style of graph is effective for that data set.
Remember to include an in-text citation and reference for your data in APA format.
