• Steps :
1. Browse and scan the case (30 – 45 minutes). What is the case about?
2. Read all the questions carefully. Understand what each question requires.
3. Re-read the case, this time, very carefully. This might take two hours or more.
4. With the questions in mind, look for the answers.
• Highlight key areas, list main points, draft notes, chronology, draw diagram, tables, etc.
• Answer all parts of every question and issues mentioned completely
• Write clearly in standard English, short sentences & paragraphs. Do not use many bullet points.
• It is an important assessment: 40% weight, so put in your best effort
Analysis of case study
• Relate to learning and apply a relevant framework / concept / author.
• Compare with examples or cases your know well in the thinking and preparation process.
• Expand and support your arguments. Refer to appendices and exhibits provided at the end.
• It is better to have a few well developed analyses than many brief superficial & disjointed statements.
• Do not provide generic / general statements. Use specific facts from case notes and link to IB.
• Check if you need to do more research beyond the case notes to answer any of the questions.
• Citations are required if you are using any materials outside contents provided in case and Canvas.
• Check each answer for facts, logic, analysis, arguments, meanings, concept, language, lessons.
3000 words in total for answers to 6 questions (please check marks worth / weightage each). If you have done additional research, please cite / reference following APA 6th style. Students are expected to submit an approximately a 3000 word response of the case study (i.e. 500 words answer to each of the six question).

Please ensure you address all the parts of each question. All the questions are of equal importance. You should use concepts and frameworks from class(Globalization, strategic challenges in globalization, global strategy, entry strategy, factors affecting entry mode, international trade, foreign direct investment, emerging markets, emerging market firm internationalization, functional strategies, and the information that is provided in the case.
1. What is driving CUMI’s success? Is it sustainable? Which part of it is transferable internationally
2. What is driving CUMI’s internationalization strategy? Specifically analyze the industry level drivers, as well as country level (India) drivers?
3. Evaluate CUMI’s Russian and South African ventures. What is the level of success in each of these two markets and what would you attribute the success or failure to?
4. Evaluate CUMI’s experience in China? What is CUMI’s problem in China? Why do you think CUMI is not able to translate its Russian success to China?
5. How important is China to CUMI? Is the management right in thinking about China centric strategy?
6. What are CUMI’s options in China? What would you recommend CUMI as China strategy? How would you implement this?
