What the Doctor sent: (NB: Some may find parts controversial. The part we focus on, the case we focus on, is not. We are focused on the workplace issue, NOT subsidiary issues on social media about Jian Ghomeshi’s salacious private life. These are real workplace issues and need real consideration. This has happened again with Canada’s Governor General abusing staff to the point where she was forced to resign recently. Laws exist at both the national and provincial (emirate) level. Rules outlining inappropriate behavior exist in the CBC and the Federal Government. Yet, these real issues continue occurring in the workplace and need real consideration. This critical thinking exercise asks you to investigate a real problem that occurred at CBC, Canada’s public broadcaster (equivalent of the BBC) focusing on leadership, power, and relationships. The case explores the rise and downfall of the emerging CBC superstar, Jian Ghomeshi, who was going to modernize the stodgy national broadcaster and move from an older Canadian audience to a youthful demographic. Jian was a superstar and senior management catered to all his concerns and demands. This led to employee complaints against the show’s star host, Jian Ghomeshi. The employees alleged that Ghomeshi’s treatment of employees was problematic and contrary to the corporation’s values and policies. This was not the first time that complaints had surfaced against the show’s star. A few years earlier, a female employee alleged that she had been mistreated by Ghomeshi, and had already resigned. Senior management knew they faced some difficult decisions because Ghomeshi had strong support among the CBC executive, including from their boss, Chris Boyce, executive director of CBC radio. You are to interrogate this case focusing on the issues of leadership, power, and relationships. Upon successful completion of this short case, you should be able to • Understand the issue of abusive leadership/supervision, including its impact on employees and organizations, and steps that can be taken to counteract it. • consider the multiple bases of power within an organization. • discuss the importance of employee voice in organizations and understand the forces that can inhibit or encourage this behavior. (Employee voice is employees having real ability to speak up and be heard. The messages spoken are meaningful and taken seriously by superiors and management.) • To examine how a leader’s character can fuel leadership action i.e. ethical leadership behavior Please create a report that includes the following: Maximum = 8 pages plus cover page. Read carefully. In each question e.g. Q1a Provide an integrated answer NOT just a sentence response to the 1st question and a short answer to the 2nd question. Provide a thoughtful response drawing on your knowledge from the notes, case, and materials….and your ideas. A. Cover page which includes: Organization Behavior and Your Name and ID B. A brief introduction which summarizes the case and identifies the key issues. C. Answer the following 3 questions: Q1. a. What negative behavior is attributed to Ghomeshi? What was the impact of his alleged behavior on Q employees? b. Why did the employees get together to compile the Red Sky presentation for Groen and Noorani? What risks did they take by following this course of action? What else could they have done? c. If it is true that Ghomeshi treated Q staff extremely poorly over a long period of time (e.g., from April 2007 to July 2012), how was he able to get away with it for so long without being reprimanded, despite being employed in an organization that had stated values and policies in place to protect employees. Q2. What recommendations would you make to resolve this issue? Q3. This happened in Canada, could this occur here in your workplace? Would your strategy be the same? (remember to consider the idea of cultural lens and how it influences your perceptions and solutions.) D. Brief conclusion. Quality over quantity is critical. Use ONLY your notes, the case, your online textbook, video (summarizes the issue, counsellor offers advice), article supplied.)

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How soon can I get my paper done?
It depends with your deadline. If you need your paper completed in 3 hours, we will deliver it in that time. All you need to do is indicate your deadline in our custom order page here. Alternatively, if you are sending us your instructions via email, please be sure to indicate your deadline.
Will it be completely original? I don't want to be caught in a case of Academic Integrity Violation.

We are as paranoid as you are. Maybe even more! And we understand that the greatest sin you can commit in your academic journey is plagiarizing your academic work. To that end, we have made sure that we check and double-check our papers using high quality plagiarism detection tools such as SafeAssign and Turnitin before submitting the paper to you.

Who is my writer? Is he/she a native English Speaker?

All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper. This might mean paying a little bit more for your paper as opposed to when you pay a foreign company whose writers are non-native English Speakers.

What if I need revisions? Will your charge additional for this?

Of course not! If you do happen to require a revision on your paper, our team will handle it for you free of charge. Matter of fact, we won’t rest till you are happy with your paper. So, ask for as many revisions as you need, it’s completely FREE!

Will you give me my money back if I don't like my paper?

We have very few instances where we delivered a paper that a client didn’t fall in love with. But if it so happens that you don’t like your paper for any reason whatsoever, we’ll refund your money back no questions asked.

I have more assignments after this, can you help me with those too?

Of course! And what’s even better is that we can reserve a writer permanently to work on your entire class. This comes in handy for projects which build up on each other and where you need just one writer, one writing style.

I got my order information wrong, can I change that?

Yes you can. Just reach out to our support team via email (support@essaynook.com) or live chat here and they’ll help you change the instructions.

Can I place an order via email instead of going through the order page?

Yes you can. Email Anna at anna@essaynook.com, she’s in charge of our sales team. Alternatively, you can talk to our Live Chat team here and request to speak to Anna.
